The Ministry of the Environment verified the massive deforestation of forests in a property belonging to the Social Welfare Institute (IPS), which is currently under a lease in the town of Mariscal Estigarribia, department of Boquerón.
The director of Inspection of the Ministry of the Environment, Julio Mareco, confirmed to our newsroom that In fact, an intervention was carried out jointly with the Public Ministry in response to the complaint made by the IPS and the company Tapiti SRL, for the deforestation of at least 5,000 hectares of a property in the area of Teniente Ochoa, town of Mariscal Estigarribia, department of Boquerón.
This property has a cLeasing contract to the company Tapiti SRL, since last December 22, 2022 with a term of 20 years under a livestock investment plan in place.

Nevertheless, it was found that the place was being invaded by a group of people, with the aim of destroying the forests. Mareco pointed out in this regard that those responsible for this act did not have authorization at the time of the intervention, so the case was referred to the Legal Department of the Ministry of the Environment, which will be in charge of analyzing the ecological impact.

He also pointed out that a new verification of the place is expected, since in the last days armed unknown persons entered again, supposedly under the command of Commissioner Armín Báez. In addition to the police chief, Hisashi Kawano, former candidate for President of the Republic for the Esperanza y Renovación Colorada movement, was also identified.
The complaint for invasion of property is in charge of the prosecutor César Sosaof the Criminal Duty Unit of the department of Boquerón.
