On the day that the electoral campaign officially started, the reelection candidate, Jair Bolsonaro (PL) chose the city of Juiz de Fora (MG) to start the melee with the electorate. Bolsonaro also cited the rise in fuel prices as a challenge he faced this year: “we did our part in 2020 and 2021 and entered 2022. Now, imagine how difficult it is for us to fight the lobby of fuels in Brazil”.

Juiz de Fora is the city where Bolsonaro was stabbed during the election campaign in September 2018. That year, Adélio Bispo stabbed the then candidate. Bishop was arrested the same day. The Federal Police (PF) investigation into the episode, carried out in two investigations, concluded that he acted alone in the crime.

Bolsonaro was accompanied by the first lady, Michelle Bolsonaro; of its candidate for Vice-President on the ticket, General Braga Netto; and also his party’s candidate for the government of Minas Gerais, senator Carlos Viana. Juiz de Fora is located in the Zona da Mata of Minas Gerais, southeast of the capital Belo Horizonte. The city has an estimated population of 577 thousand inhabitants.

According to the candidate, the tour will be a celebration of the 200th anniversary of the Independence of Brazil. Then, the candidate headed to the city where he participated in a motorcycle ride with supporters.

According to the electoral calendar, as of this Tuesday, candidates are authorized to carry out electoral propaganda on the internet and rallies with sound systems. The broadcasting of electoral propaganda on radio and television, for the first round of the elections, will begin on the 26th. It will end on the 29th of September.
