— Legislator Guido Bellido surprisingly announced his resignation from Peru Libre. What is happening with the party that you belong to? Would you say there is an internal crisis?
— With Peru Libre there has been no major inconvenience or problem, we maintain ourselves as a party structure with militants and regional committees, and in January we have a congress in which some observations that some militancy may have will be raised. Bellido has his personal right to resign from the party, we respect it, but we do not share it.
— Have you given any explanation?
— What we know is what you have explained through your social networks.
— And what do you think of that explanation?
— I don’t believe in that approach. Surely Congressman Bellido is seeing his own actions and activities carried out, but, for me, the fundamental thing is to build parties and see how, from the perspective of the left, solutions can be proposed to the problems that exist in the country. We have been doing it with the proposal to change the Constitution, in substance and form.
— When was the last bench meeting that Bellido attended?
— Yesterday (Monday) he was no longer there, because he had resigned. On Saturday we were in a meeting with elected mayors, with congressmen and with the national leadership.
— Was he beautiful?
– Of course.
— And you didn’t tell them anything?
– Okay, did not slip anything resembling a resignation. He was surely pointing out some aspects, but on Saturday he did not specify any position regarding his resignation.
— In what conditions is PL? They arrived with a large bench, they split, now someone who even held the position of president of the Council of Ministers leaves them. Are they weakening?
— No, they are sensations, they are momentary issues and do not necessarily allow a conclusion of what may be happening. Without a doubt, Congressman Bellido has a certain peculiarity of being constantly in a media situation and is respected. Surely there will be opinions and the party, at its January congress, will have the opportunity to analyze all this.
— Will more resignations come in PL?
— I don’t know, I don’t know.
— There is doubt in his answer.
— You can perceive what you want, but my statement is clear, complete.
— What don’t you know?
— No. That there is no waiver.
— For the moment, at least. Are the most faithful staying?
– Nope. Those who are most organic to the party remain, those who understand that the programmatic approaches are what unite us. We are in that logic of a constant struggle to make our proposals viable.
— How does PL perceive the government’s departure?
— We believe that here there has been a logic on the part of the right, in all its variants, of having a single proposal, a single program, a single agenda, which is to seek to remove the Government at any cost.. The right has only one proposal, unfortunately it does not advance in walking towards talking about the great problems of the country. This has meant that the Government, in order to satisfy sectors of the right, has not carried out the programmatic guidelines, such as a new Constitution, the nationalization of natural resources, the elimination of neoliberal policies, that large companies respect the country and do not contaminate the environment.
— Has the government given up those flags?
I don’t know if he has resigned. Unfortunately, he does not apply them.
— Do you think you will apply them in the future?
— We hope so. We are going to do all the pressure that we can from the space we have and surely the popular spaces will advance towards that path. We call on you to make real changes in the country.
— Do they consider themselves a government or opposition bench?
– Well, in any case we will be a bench of opposition to the opposition.
— But not government?
– No, well, with the Government we have our contradictions and we point them out clearly. We have to face the big problems, we need a refoundation of the country and the Government has to move towards that process. And we’re going to keep pointing it out.
— Is Portalatino a PL quota?
— Portalatino has been placed by the President of the Republicin exercise of his constitutional prerogative to appoint ministers, jointly with the premier.
— It is your picture.
– Of course. But I don’t know why someone who is a PL militant is already seen as someone of terror. In the government of Toledo there were militants of Peru Possible. I remember that APRA had its militants as premieres, such as Jorge Del Castillo or Javier Velásquez Quesquén. The same with the government of Ollanta Humala.
— The Government has failed in several appointments.
— But they are not from PL.
— Former Minister Jorge López is close to the leader of his party.
— Hey, you can be close with your neighbor, but that he has committed anything does not have to involve him.
— I’m talking about political responsibility.
— The party knows that it has reached the government with Castillo, but, unfortunately, the right has demonized us, has criminalized us, and has even frightened the president into putting PL cadres.
