Itaipu: Landfill gates remain open and number of visits increases

The first two days after the opening of the landfill gates began, some 4,234 people (2,100 per day, on average) went to the Itaipu facilities, in Hernandarias, to witness the attraction.

The water discharge began this Saturday, January 14, and until Thursday, January 19, some 6,922 persons came to the Hydroelectric Power Plant to be part of this experience.

To carry out this visit, those interested should go to the Visitor Reception Center (CRV) of the Entity (located in Hernandarias, meters before the main access barrier to the hydroelectric plant); there they must confirm the corresponding registration (with prior reservation).

Then, in groups, they will be transferred to the Mirador de la Margen Derecha in exclusive buses arranged by Itaipu, accompanied by technicians from the Tourism Department and the Public Relations Division.

According to the report of the Superintendence of Operation of the Technical Department, for this weekend the increase in the volume of the discharge is expected, which will allow us to visualize an impressive spectacle, with the water flowing through the gutters of the great dam being the protagonist. of cement.

For this Saturday, The average discharge will increase to 2,790 m3/s and for Sunday it will be of the order of 4,500 m3/s (due to lower energy demand, typical on weekends, which requires an increase in discharge as compensation).

The show will run for another week.

Those interested in observing this impressive spectacle, which in principle will last for another week, may do so at the following times: 08:00, 09:00, 10:00, 10:30; 1:10 p.m., 2:00 p.m. and 2:30 p.m., Monday to Sunday.
