In a match that left the fans with their hearts in suspense, Bolívar says goodbye to the Apertura Tournament in the quarterfinals, after falling to the newly promoted San Antonio.
With an aggregate score of 2-1, the team led by Flavio Robatto could not stay in the raceand the coach did not take long to express his feelings after the elimination.
“I analyzed the match in two parts,” Robatto began in his post-match analysis. “The team (Bolívar) dominated in prominence and arrivals. We did not have the efficiency and lucidity that the team needed. The victory was deserved,” he added.
However, the Bolívar coach criticized San Antonio’s strategy and defensive ability, pointing out that “nothing was played. They did not let themselves be played (…) Today was a true triumph of anti-football. From minute 0, diving, cutting, making time.”
“The ball didn’t want to go in. There were plays that deserved us to win.”expressed the coach, highlighting the frustration of not being able to capitalize on the opportunities generated.
Furthermore, Robatto pointed out that both goals against were the result of set pieces, situations that he considers “fortuitous and unusual.”
He also ‘hit’ the refereeing, demanding two possible penalties; one for an infraction against Rocha and another for a handball by the rival: “If one of them had gone in, or if he had received the penalty, we would be talking about something else,” Robatto concluded.
San Antonio eliminated Bolívar after beating them 1-0 in Entre Ríos and tying them 1-1 in La Paz. The Cochabambinos eliminated one of the favorites of the tournament.
