In order to promote prevention, diagnosis and care measures to prevent the spread of the monkeypox virus in Mexico, specialists from the health sector held an open information session for medical professionals.
The general director of the National Center for the Prevention and Control of HIV and AIDS (Censida), Alethse de la Torre Rosas, stated that the mechanisms of transmission known so far include close contact with a person with the virus, skin with skin or sexual contact, as well as the inhalation of respiratory droplets from people in the infectious period.
After highlighting the integration of a multidisciplinary work group in which 16 institutions participate, which generates useful information for health personnel, experts from the sector highlighted the importance of having accurate information, based on scientific data that allows healthcare organizations to civil society and health personnel to carry out preventive actions among the people who are most at risk.
Meanwhile, the director of Comprehensive Care of Censida, Nicole Finkelstein Mizrahi, indicated that a comprehensive response is being sought, not only for monkeypox, but also for the human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) and other sexually transmitted infections.
In the information session, members of the National Council for the Prevention and Control of AIDS (Conasida) raised the importance of the collaboration of community leaders in the coordinated response against this disease.
The general coordinator of Rights Holders Living with HIV of the IMSS and member of the council, Luis Adrián Quiroz Castillo, stressed that attention should be centralized in communities of sexual diversity and eliminate the stigma and discrimination that violates their access to health services. .
