The loading of concrete for the first pillars of the Great Hospital of the South in Itapúa began. The foundations of the building are also gaining height as the work progresses on the different fronts.

There are 51,525 square meters to be built, of which 39,355 m² correspond to the main hospital building, whose financing comes from the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) and is G. 209,994,116,609.

With the execution of this project, some 200 jobs will initially be generated, with a potential of up to 350 as it progresses through its different stages.

The work is carried out in the city of Encarnación (Itapúa), specifically in the place known as Porâ stream.

It will have the following areas: emergencies, surgical area, gynecology and obstetrics, internship area, Intensive Care Units (ICU), laboratory, images, pathological anatomy and morgue.

Added to this is a transfusion medicine unit, ambulance station, offices, DIA Hospital, dialysis, pharmacy, teaching and research, sterilization, kitchen-dining room, laundry, general services, shelters, child development space and administrative area.

Regarding the complementary works, they consist of parking lots, a heliport, an effluent treatment plant, an oxygen generation plant, as well as support and supply areas.

This new hospital will have a capacity to house 266 beds for inpatients and ICUs, plus 111 beds for emergencies, operating rooms, gynecology and obstetrics areas.

The Southern Hospital Consortium is in charge of the work with a delivery period of 24 months. It is made up of the Chaco SA Construction Society, Barrail Hermanos SA de Construcciones, EISA and Ricardo Díaz Martínez.
