Iran and Colombia are brothers; destroying the relationship does not benefit the peoples: Iranian ambassador

Through a statement published on social networks, the Ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Bogotá, Mohammad Ali Ziaei, responded to the controversial statement of Defense Minister Diego Molano, who from Israel assured that Iran was an enemy of Colombia.

The Iranian diplomat reiterated that there is a friendship between both countries and they maintain a long-standing relationship; a relationship that, if destroyed, would affect the peoples.

“Colombia are two friendly countries and they have a historical relationship. The destruction of this relationship does not benefit the peoples of the two countries, “said the ambassador.

The communiqué also confirms that there are relations between Iran and Venezuela; explanation given before Minister Molano’s statement that Iran and Hezbollah “support the Venezuelan regime.”

The Islamic official says that this relationship with Venezuela “have been formed within the framework of international law and they are growing. These relationships are not a threat to any country, including the countries of Latin America “.

But he also referred to the intelligence information from Colombia that points to the presence of members of the Lebanese political and military movement Hezbollah, considered a terrorist at the international level, on the borders between Venezuela and Colombia, and in that line, missile sales with the Maduro government.

“On the documents published in a Colombian publication that affirm that there is a trade in advanced weapons (missiles) between Iran and Venezuela are false. Iran and Venezuela have beneficial economic and trade relations. Other Latin American countries may also enjoy beneficial economic and trade relations with Iran “, close the statement.

Regarding what was said by Minister Molano, the Foreign Ministry has not made any pronouncement, but President Iván himself Duque qualified the statement: “Colombia does not use the word enemy to speak of other nations.”
