Inumet issued a yellow alert for strong storms in the southwest of the country

The National Institute of Meteorology (Inumet) published a yellow alert for strong storms in the southwest of the country this Thursday.

Possible “intense rains in short periods, occasional hail fall, intense electrical activity and strong gusts of wind” are warned, the institute said.

The alert started at 7AM and will be updated at 9AM. Much of Colonia, San José and the south of Soriano are the affected areas.

Cologne: Campana, Cerro Carmelo, Colonia Valdense, Colonia del Sacramento, Conchillas, El Semillero, Estanzuela, Florencio Sánchez, Gil, Juan Lacaze, La Paz, Los Pinos, Miguelete, Nueva Helvecia, Ombúes de Lavalle, Radial Conchillas, Rosario, Santa Ana and Tarariras.

Saint Joseph: Ecilda Paullier, Juan Soler, Kiyú-Ordeig, Libertad, Mal Abrigo, Puntas de Valdez, Rafael Perazza, San José de Mayo and Villa María.

Soriano: Cardona, José Enrique Rodó and Santa Catalina.
