Havana will host an international dog show, in its spring edition, on May 27 and 28, according to its organizers.
The appointment, named EXPOCANINA 2023, will cover all breeds of dogs and it will have as headquarters the Cultural Station of Line and 18, in Vedado habanero.
More than 200 animals of 30 breeds have already been registered for the event, according to the Board of Directors of the Cynological Federation of Cuba (FCC).
However, the entity accurate to the Cuban News Agency (ACN) that the figure may increase, since it is common for breeders to register their pets at the last minute for transportation reasons.
The organizers explained that the contest will grant points in the Youth, Adult and Veteran categories, for the Cuban, Central American and Caribbean, Latin American, Pan American and International championships.
The decisions will fall to the judges Julio Rueda, from Uruguay, and the Cuban Norma Paula Rodríguez, president of the FCC and also the Cuban Federation of Canine Sports.
The last edition of this event was held in February 2022, in the context of the International Dog Show in Havana, in its winter edition. On that occasion, the venue was also the Cultural Station on Line y 18, the old El Carmelo Tram Station.
The Cynological Federation of Cuba emerged in 1987 and is a member of the International Cynological Federation.
The entity brings together the national associations of Cocker Spaniel Breeders and the Afghan Hound Breeders. In addition, the Boxer, Bichon Havanese, Collies, Great Dane, German Shepherd, Dalmata, Doberman, Chihuahua and Teckel clubs are also part of it.
