As part of the cycle of presentations prepared by the Eternal Music Chamber Orchestra, five Cuban violinists will perform today classical pieces from the international repertoire.
The notes of iconic compositions signed by the Argentinian Astor Piazzolla, the German Johann Sebastian Bach and the Italian Antonio Vivaldi will be brought to the stage by performers Liliana Serrano, Yilian Concepción, William Matos, Manuel de la Cruz and Jenny Peña.
Under the leadership of Maestro Guido López Gavilán, the recital will take place in the Minor Basilica of San Francisco de Asís, in Havana, and includes the cycle of Las Estaciones Porteñas by Piazzolla, in the version performed by the virtuoso Latvian violinist and conductor Guidon Kremer.
According to a statement from the group, the program also includes the performance of Bach’s Concerto for two violins in D minor and the anthological Primavera, composed by Vivaldi.
Founded by López-Gavilán in 1995, the Eternal Music Chamber Orchestra brings together the talent of students and graduates of the Higher Institute of Art, now the University of the Arts, in charge of proposing shows inspired by popular and classic Latin American songs.
Música Eterna has performed in cities in Cuba, Canada, Spain, Colombia and the United States, where it was presented at the prestigious Jordan Hall in Boston and received great public success and excellent critical comments.
