The National Administrative Department of Statistics (Dane) delivered its first informality bulletin that incorporates the new measurement criteria of the entity that allow a more precise measurement of the figures at the national level, and conforms to the criteria of the International Labor Organization (ILO).
This methodological approach is based on a more robust statistical record that the Great Integrated Household Survey (Geih) has today, compared to the Geih of 2005, which had less information on issues such as contributions to the social security system, health, pension and compensation funds, as well as the types of economic units.
For this reason, from now on the country will have a measurement at the national level, and not only of the urban domains or the 23 cities and metropolitan areas.
Thus, according to the report, for the national total, in the April-June 2022 quarter, the proportion of informal workers was 58.0%, which meant a decrease of 2.1 percentage points compared to the same quarter of the previous year (60 ,1%).
This implies that of 22.05 million employed persons in the country, 9.02 million are formal workers and 12.7 million informal.
In the case of the 23 cities and metropolitan areas, for which the indicator had been calculated, the proportion of informality stood at 45.6%, a decrease of 2.1 percentage points compared to the same period of the previous year (47 .7%).
And in the big capitals, the 13 most important cities in the country, the indicator went from 46.4% in the same period last year to 44.3%, a reduction of 2.0 percentage points compared to the April-June quarter. 2021.
