In the past 20 years, the Institute of the National Workers’ Housing Fund (Infonavit) has granted 43 thousand 34 mortgage loans, for the benefit of 21 thousand 517 same-sex couples. This generated an economic spill of 14 thousand 340 million pesos.

Of the total financing to acquire a home, 77 percent was placed through Unamos Creditos Infonavit, a scheme launched in February 2020, which allows two people to buy a home without having to be married.

The remaining 23 percent of the credits were granted to couples who did get married and processed their financing under the Infonavit Spousal Credit modality.

Together, through both schemes granted between 2002 and May 8, 2022, a spill of 14 thousand 340 million pesos was generated, of which it is estimated that 83 percent corresponds to contracts executed between 2020 and 2022 .

Infonavit reported that 54.4 percent of the financing granted in that period is concentrated in seven entities: Quintana Roo, State of Mexico, Nuevo León, Jalisco, Chihuahua, Baja California and Guanajuato.
