This Monday, Free Consumers communicated, through a price survey carried out in supermarkets and neighborhood businesses in the Autonomous City of Buenos Aires, the inflation of the Basic Food Basket.
The survey found a price increase of 3.09% in the first fortnight of October for food, one of the sectors that increased the most compared to the inflation average so far this year.
They explained that “The price of the 21 products of the so-called basic food basket had an increase of 3.09 percent during the first fortnight of the month of October of the year 2022.” In addition, according to the entity, from the first day of the year until today, the cost of living reaches 66.38% of inflation.
Meanwhile, the Minister of Economy, Sergio Massa, clarified that “We assume in the Ministry of Economy with almost 7.5% inflation and the results are slowly being seen”.
“If you ask me, the number does not satisfy me or I like it,” said Massa. “I understand that what we have to do is guarantee that descending path that we are beginning to travel, in some way. That is the challenge”, argued the minister and added that he intends that, over time, the aforementioned path be “consolidated”.
Which food sectors increased the most
Meats recorded the lowest go up, with an average of 1.7%. Among them, the kilo of palette is the one that registered the greatest increase, with 2.33%. On the other hand, in the vegetables sector, the highest increases were in the kilo of black potatoes, with more than 24%; the perita tomato had a 13% increase and the aubergine more than 12%.
According to Free Consumers, there was a 6.67% increase in sugar; equal percentage for the kilo of flour and 4% for the half kilo of noodles.
