The INE (Statistics National Institute) released information on the labor market that details by department and by municipality, for Montevideo, employment and unemploymentthis modality applies from February 2021.
The director of the INE, Diego Aboal, stressed that the level of geographical disaggregation is within the objectives set by the Government.
He also said that the sample of the Continuous Household Survey was tripled in regard to the labor market module.
It was also changed to panel surveys in order to study the same households over a period of six months. It allows to improve the statistical measurements.
Regarding the employment data, the hierarch reported that the last semester of 2021 saw an improvement according to the survey presented in February of this year, “According to the data, it is a labor market that is being reactivated,” he stated that the levels returned to pre-pandemic values, the last published unemployment rate is 7.3%.
