He General Council of the National Electoral Institute (INE) created the Technical Committee for the Implementation of the electoral reform, known as “Plan B”, promoted by the president Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador and specified by Morena in the Congress of the Union.
The President of the INE, Lorenzo Cordova Vianello pointed out that this formalizes the start of the work for the implementation of the electoral reform that came into force today, including the modification of the regulatory and administrative instruments of the INE, derived from the so-called “Plan B” and opens the possibility of that the agreements of this Institute can be challenged before the competent jurisdictional bodies.
The Committee, he added, will be made up of the four electoral advisers and three electoral advisers of this Institute, who will continue in their positions and “will have to carry out in a very short time a diversity of tasks of great complexity, and of the greatest importance for the future of the INE and our democracy”.
Lorenzo Córdova, presented a concurring vote, considering that although they must abide by the law, “from my point of view, it flagrantly and openly violates the constitutional order.”
The objective of the committee is to establish the lines of work so that the various areas of the INE identify and analyze possible modifications, both in its organic structure and in its regulations, without neglecting compliance with the main functions that they were in charge of each a prior issuance of the decree.
The Committee was made up of counselor Beatriz Claudia Zavala Pérez as its President, and made up of fellow counselors Norma Irene De la Cruz; Uuc-Kib Swords; Jose Martin Faz; Carla Humphrey; Dania Ravel and Jaime Rivera.
