The play “Ortiz Guerrero: La amarga plegaria” opens this Friday, March 3 at 9:00 p.m. at the Arlequín Teatro (Antequera 1061 and Rca. de Colombia). General tickets have a cost of Gs. 80,000 or 2 x Gs 150,000.

The setting comes in commemoration of the 90th anniversary of the death of Manuel Ortiz Guerrerowritten and directed by José Luis Ardissone, based on the biography of the poet, narrated by Mr. Arturo Alsina.

Manuel Ortiz Guerrero was born in Villarrica on July 16, 1894. His mother, Susana, died in childbirth, and his grandmother made up for the absence. As a teenager he decides to continue his studies at the National College of Asunción, “Manú”, already a student of the National College, shares classrooms with adolescents who over the years would become prominent cultural personalities, Arturo Alsina, Facundo Recalde, Natalicio González, Leopoldo Ramos Giménez. They will be his friends, the true ones, forgers of dreams and ideals and his allies against uprooting.

Ortiz Guerrero does not escape her charms, and dedicates and sends a poem singing her beauty. Anselmita responds to that courtesy of hers by sending her a check, which “Manú” returns with another poem written on the back of the check. That “Lyrical Endorsement” becomes a symbol of the gallantry of the poet.

Suddenly, the signs of Lázaro’s evil begin to appear on the face and body of “Manú”. He returns to Villarrica, isolates himself, hides, hides his face and his body with a long cape, hat and gloves.
