Indotel mantiene abierta licitación para adquirir 450 mil cajas convertidoras

Indotel maintains an open tender to acquire 450 thousand converter boxes

The Dominican Institute of Telecommunications (INDOTEL) keeps open the presentation of proposals until next Wednesday, July 27 of this year, of the international public bidding process to acquire 450 thousand digital signal converter boxes, which will be used during the implementation of the Digital Terrestrial Television (DTT).

Participants may submit their proposals until 10:00 am on the established deadline.

INDOTEL also reported that the opening ceremony of the Envelopes with the offers will take place on Wednesday, July 27 at 11:00 in the morning at the institution’s headquarters, located at 962 Abraham Lincoln Avenue in the National District.

The regulatory body will select through this tender the company that will acquire, distribute and deliver the digital signal converter boxes to the selected households.

Those interested in participating can access the specifications and other relevant documents on the INDOTEL portal (www.indotel.gob.do/enlaces/licitación-indotel-bid-lpi-001-2022/).

INDOTEL has identified as beneficiaries vulnerable households that have an “analog” television and do not have a subscription television service (cable); that is, households that consume content on open television.

With the start of the transmission of open television digital signals, users who receive this signal will be able to enjoy high-definition images and better audio quality.

The implementation of the DTT is carried out within the framework of the “Expansion of Connectivity for Digital Transformation in the Dominican Republic” project, which is being executed by the INDOTELin correspondence with the General Telecommunications Law number 153-98, which designates it as the institution responsible for guaranteeing the right to universal access to telecommunications services.
