India reports its first death from monkeypox

Indian authorities on Monday reported the first possible fatal case of monkey pox in the country, following the death of a young man who returned from the United Arab Emirates (UAE).

The Kerala State Ministry of Health said tests carried out on the 22 year old who died on July 30 “showed that he had monkeypox”. This would be the fourth fatal case of the disease outside of Africa.
