This modification was made known through a statement issued from the Decentralized Directorate of Culture Cusco, where they called locals, tourists and travel agencies to learn about the new provisions for visiting the world wonder.
“In application to Supreme Decree No. 016-2022-PCM, which declares a State of Emergency for people as a result of Covid-19, that reestablishes new measures for social coexistence, as of March 5 the number of tourists will be increased, from 8 to 10 per group for access to the llaqta”, verbatim indicates the communication.
The governing authorities of Machu Picchu Archaeological Park, They emphasized that all protection and biosecurity measures continue to be in force to enter the sanctuary, such as the use of protective masks and the corresponding distance.
It should be noted that the ancient Inca city of Machu Picchu received about 450 thousand visitors during 2021which represented an increase of 66% compared to 2020, when only 269 thousand tourists arrived, since it was closed for several months during confinement due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
