INC VERSION

Ernesto Benítez, president of the National Cement Industry (INC), affirmed that this call is made for the transport of raw material between the Vallemi and Villeta plants. “Around 40 thousand tons of clinker are transported every month from the Vallemi plant to Villeta. And from Villeta gypsum is taken to Vallemi by the same route. So contracting river freight is for that use”, he stated.

He reported that the most efficient means of transport to move raw material from one plant to another is water or river freight due to the volume transported on barges. “In terms of time, the most convenient freight is the land freight, but it has drawbacks such as the volume of cargo substantially less than that of river freight and the price that is double, for this reason the transfer of raw material by barge is the most efficient means in economy and volume as well”, he explained.

He finally said that the Paraguay River has not yet recovered its flow and that very likely in a month the difficulties of navigation in the river will begin to be felt. So now is the ideal time to carry out this work before the decline is more pronounced.
