In October 349,379 tourists arrived, according to economy

28.9% of foreigners who visited the country in October were US citizens

The Ministry of Economy, Planning and Development published the Sectorial Panorama report, which specifies that the arrival of non-resident foreigners stood at 349,379 tourists at the end of October 2021.

The Sectorial Panorama report corresponding to October 2021, which covers economic activity in the agricultural, industrial and services sectors, specifies that, compared to the previous month, the entry of non-resident foreigners increased by 25.9%, and by 18.7% when compared to October 2019.

The monthly report, prepared by the Directorate of Sectorial Economic Analysis of the Vice Ministry of Economic and Social Analysis, points out that the number of cards sold reflected a monthly increase of 5.8 percent and 15.9% when compared to October 2019, which goes in line with the increase in passenger arrivals.

It maintains that 28.9% of foreigners who visited the country during the month of October were US citizens, which registered an increase of 6 thousand tourists in relation to the previous month.
Likewise, there were monthly increases in the arrival of Russian citizens (26,406), Canadians (9,106), French (8,357), Germans (3,594), among others.

Regarding employment, the report indicates that in October 2021 a total of 2,124,733 active workers were registered in the Dominican Social Security System, which translates into the incorporation of more than 236 thousand formal employees in the last 12 months. It indicates that, in relation to the month of September, there was an increase of 25,727 formal workers.

It establishes that these results show the total recovery of formally employed persons.
