During the first five months of 2022, the National Directorate of Extinction, Search and Rescue Operations (EXBURE) of the Meritorious Fire Department of the Republic of Panama (BCBRP) has attended 15,629 emergencies, with the rescue of people being the most recurrent.
According to EXBURE, in May there was a slight decrease compared to previous months, with a total of 2,411 emergencies, of these 1,477 were rescues, of which 1,189 were due to the presence of Africanized bees and 255 at accident scenes. traffic.
They reported that during this period, firefighters also extinguished 83 fires, of these 37 were structural (homes, buildings, shops); 32 in vehicles, 12 in grasslands, one in forestry and one in boats.
Other emergencies attended by the EXBURE personnel of the eleven regional zones were the care of wounded (351); electrical faults (113); capture and rescue of animals (98); cutting and removal of fallen trees (90) and burned garbage (61), among others.
