The Seventh Dragon Boat Race, which took place this weekend in Amador, organized by the Panamanian Chinese Cultural Center, successfully concluded, where tribute was paid to the 73rd anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China and it also served as preparation for the Pan American Dragon Boat Championship 2023, which will be held in Panama from March 16 to 19 next year.
According to the Panamanian Chinese Cultural Center, around 1,500 athletes from Canada, Brazil, the United States, Puerto Rico, Trinidad and Tobago, Bahamas, Colombia, Argentina, among others, are expected to attend this sporting event, explained Fermín Tomás Chan, president of the Panamanian Chinese Cultural Center and of the organizing committee.
Ciro Loo, technical director and member of the Dragon Boat National Committee Panama, explained that since 2015 this sport has been carried out in our country, achieving to date, completely capturing the attention of more public; so much so that each year it becomes more popular and attendees enjoy each of the competitions to the fullest. In addition, he stressed that Dragon Boat Racing is the fastest growing water sport in the world.
During the 2000 meter race, in the open category, Dragon Rage took the honors. They also stood out in this distance, Kush, in Mixed; Dragon Rage, in feminine; Pink Warriors Stars, in BCS; Hydra Titan, in the youth and Dragon Den Warriors, in the Master.
In the category of 1,000 meters Pink Warriors Stars, in BCS he took the championship. Other winners were Kush, in Mixed; Dragon Rage, in female and in Open; Dragon Den, in Youth and Dragon Den Warriors, in Masters.
Dragon Den Warriors imposed their rhythm in the 500 meters of the youth; Panadragón, in Mixed; Dragon Den Warriors, in female; Dragon Rage, in Open; Pink Warriors Stars, in BCS and Dragon Den Warriors, in Masters.
The 200 meters category was also played and Panadragón dominated in Mixed; Dragon Den Warriors, in Women and Masters; Dragon Rage, in Open and DDW in youth and Pink Warriors Stars, in BCS.
