In July, income from wool exports fell 32%

The Uruguayan wool export revenues fell 32% in July 2022 compared to the same month in 2021.

The exports measured in dollars fell 36% compared to the previous month and 25% in kilos, which accounts for the loss of value in the monththe worst performer of the year.

They balanced out in May and from June the drop in prices in the Australian market deepened, taking off up to 13% below the values ​​obtained in 2021, which in the same period had reached their best prices of the year.

It is still difficult to place wool with medium or thick fineness.

The Eastern Markets Indicator (IME) in Australia reached up to US$11.08 per kilo.

On August 8, commercial activity resumes in the Australian markets after a three-week break and from the lowest price floor since January 2021 –US$ 9.38–, when wool began to recover from the tumble caused by the covid, which in mid-2020 had dragged values ​​below US$6.
