The medical director of the Children’s Hospital, Paul Gallardo, highlighted this Thursday that Covid-19 in children continues to have this mild presentation, for which he recommends not lowering one’s guard with the little ones.

He stated that when this disease began in the hospital they had 559 children diagnosed with Covid-19, of these, 237 required hospitalization, which represented 42%.

“In 2021 it dropped from 559 to 427 and 201 were hospitalized, 47% more or less of the children who attended this center. Now in January 2022, 483 have been diagnosed and only 90 have required hospitalization. It is not the same to have 400 children cared for throughout a year, than 400 in a month, that complicates the availability of beds at a given time”, said the doctor.

He pointed out that they have had to reconvert areas that were not intended for Covid-19 patients in order to hospitalize them.
