Police personnel reported on Monday the discovery of a body at the Barón Metro station in Valparaíso. The body was found around 10:00 a.m. by personnel from the Second Police Station who went to the site of the event.
As reported by Carabineros, the corpse was in a fetal position and was found under one of the ramps of platform 1, which is accessed from the public highway. The deceased person did not carry any type of document, so until now it has not been identified. It is presumed that it is a person in a street situation.
The prosecutor on duty has instructed the Police Investigation Section (SIP) to review the cameras in the sector and carry out the interview of witnesses in order to clarify the details after his death. It has also been arranged for the Labocar team to work on the identification of the corpse.
The case has shocked the Valparaíso community, since the causes of his death and the circumstances in which it occurred are unknown. Neighbors have expressed their concern about the growing presence of homeless people in the area, and have called on the authorities to take measures to address this problem.
The investigation is still ongoing and it is expected that more details about this tragic event can be obtained in the coming days.
