Last week, after the #SélvameDelTren campaign was announced on social networks, in which various actors and singers participate, including Derbez, the chief executive, Andrés Manuel López Obrador, described them as “pseudo-environmentalists.”
President Andrés Manuel López Obrador once again defended the Mayan Train construction project: he rejected that its lines are causing major damage and asserted that more than 50,000 jobs are being generated and more than 200,000 hectares of trees are being planted.
“There is no major damage and I have already explained that we are going to plant, we are already planting 200,000 hectares,” he said on Monday.
According to the president, the 1,500 kilometers to communicate with Tabasco, Chiapas, Campeche, Yucatán and Quintana Roo do not affect the cenotes or underground rivers.
The Mayan Train is one of the flagship works of President López Obrador, which is expected to open in 2023, at a cost of around 200,000 million pesos.
