As a pilot plan, the Ministry of Education (Meduca) plans to launch the “digital notebook” in the third quarter of this school year with the aim of providing official schools with an information system for capturing notes, attendance and student appreciation.
This information system, developed by the National Authority for Government Innovation (AIG), 3,000 official schools, with an enrollment of about 850,000 students and 48,000 teachers.
According to the teacher’s leader and member of the Association of Veragüenses Teachers, Humberto Montero, teachers are not prepared for this process. “The digital platform is a good program, but we are not being taken into account. The step is to meet with us and be trained because when distance education was given in 2020, Meduca himself did not know what to do” , he remarked.
Montero stressed that private schools find it more feasible to manage this type of platform since it is a single educational center, in Meduca it is a platform for all schools and it is not robust, so on some occasions the platform tends to fall and the relevant work cannot be carried out to keep them up to date.
This digital notebook will allow Meduca to have fast, accurate and convenient information for students and teachers to access information.
