Banxico identifies 3 risks for the Mexican economy

The report presented this Thursday considers it a priority to implement measures that contribute to increasing productivity in the different regions of the country. All this with the aim of achieving higher rates of growth and well-being of the population.

However, Banxico expects economic activity to maintain its gradual recovery for the next 12 months thanks to demand from the United States, the country’s main trading partner.

The central bank points out that there are also risks of new COVID outbreaks that could hinder the operations of the productive sector, in addition to the continuity of the Russian invasion of Ukraine.

“Uncertainty persists regarding the global evolution of the health emergency, particularly in relation to the possible emergence of new variants and the need to apply additional booster doses,” the document mentions.

Advances in vaccination on a global scale would also contribute to the normalization of the functioning of global supply chains and, therefore, to improve the performance of the sectors that have been affected by the increase in prices and the shortage of supplies during the pandemic, highlighting the automotive industry in the north and central regions, Banxico said.
