Nicaraguan activist and human rights defender Bianca Jagger confirmed, through his Twitter account, that he tested positive for COVID-19. As he details, he acquired the virus during a trip he recently made to Paris, France.
«For more than three years I wore a mask because the NHS (National Health Service) classifies me as vulnerable (…) I recently went to Paris and, for the first time, I did not wear a mask. When I returned, I tested positive and had a severe case of the virus,” explained the also opposition member.

He also recounted that when he felt that he was “in very poor health” he decided to call the emergency number 111, and that “after a long evaluation they wanted an ambulance to be sent to take me to the hospital.”
On the other hand, she denounced that while in the hospital, she asked to be given an antiviral, however, she was subjected to another “long” evaluation “by a doctor from the COVID delivery unit, who refused to give it to me.”
“The NHS is in control of all antiviral treatments for COVID-19. They claim that only those who are at high risk of becoming seriously ill can have access, but they refuse to give it to me even though I am classified as vulnerable by the NHS and my pulmonary Dr recommended they give it to me,” he added.
In addition, he indicated that the UK government has an excessive policy regarding the antiviral drug and that the NHS has a monopoly on the drug, “it claims to only offer it to those most at risk of becoming seriously ill with Covid-19. I’m in the vulnerable category and very sick, but I was denied!”Jagger snapped.
