With the aim of meeting the needs of people living in vulnerable conditions and reducing poverty and extreme poverty rates, this afternoon the President of the Republic Laurentino Cortizo Cohen sanctioned the Hive Plan Law.
“I have no doubt that the Colmena Plan is the path, the legacy and the instrument for the fight against poverty and inequality. We are building for now, but more importantly, we are building for the future,” said Cortizo Cohen.
With the signing of this Law, a State policy is created to guarantee an improvement in the quality of life of more than 777 thousand Panamanians who live in extreme multidimensional poverty in 300 districts of 63 districts of the country.
“This work is done in an articulated and coordinated manner between the governorates, local governments, academia, the organized community and the private sector, to make the efforts aimed at promoting development more effective and efficient,” said President Cortizo Cohen.
With the Beehive Plan, 12 areas are served, including comprehensive care for early childhood, improved nutrition, access to clean water and basic sanitation; health, education and the development of productive capacities to guarantee the sustainability of our communities.
With this Law, it will correspond to the Social Cabinet to recommend the inclusion or exclusion of the territories to be intervened by the National Strategy of the Hive Plan, which is structured in four axes: Social Development, Economic Development, Infrastructure and Environmental Sustainability.
While the Ministry of Social Development will be in charge of the technical coordination and articulation with the Social Cabinet, for the fulfillment of responsibilities of the Plan Colmena National Strategy.
