Hipólito Mejía: “Yvelisse Prats de Pérez fue una mujer ejemplar que tomó en serio la educación”

Santo Domingo.- The Political Training Institute, Dr. José Francisco Pena Gómez, celebrated its XII graduation ceremony from which some 638 students graduated, which was headed by its president, Hipólito Mejía and Francisco Cruz Pascual, vice-rector of the Universidad Católica Santo Domingo, on behalf of its rector Ramón Benito Ángeles Fernández.

The ceremony was dedicated to the late teacher Yvelisse Prats de Pérez, who was the academic director of the institution, whose relatives were present at it, corresponding to her granddaughter, the graduate Laura Salvador Guerrero, the words on behalf of these and the family Prats de Perez-Guerrero.

Hipólito Mejía, in his capacity as president of the institution, in the central speech, expressed “our institute has worked, works and will work with rigor and dedication to train this type of public servants.

In this sense, he pointed out, the main objective of this effort is that our graduates are capable of putting into practice a new type of management, both within political organizations and in the public positions that correspond to them, be it in the executive branch, in the legislative branch, or in the judicial branch.

He highlighted that, without a doubt, the work carried out to date through the institute has as a source of inspiration and guidance our very dear and unforgettable colleague Ivelisse Prats Ramírez, whose spirit and example remain with us beyond her physical absence.

She stressed that for this reason, this ordinary graduation is dedicated to her. “We are very happy to have the presence of numerous relatives and close friends of our distinguished and esteemed honoree.”

“Comrade Ivelisse Prats Ramírez was an exemplary woman with her own light, with outstanding intellectual gifts, and with an extraordinary ability to rigorously and enthusiastically expose and defend her ideas, values, and principles,” she said.

She emphasized that she was an inspired educator who took political education and party militancy seriously, and that intellectual and ethical flame lit up all the spaces of our institute.

“From there emanated the light that has allowed us to give seminars, courses, workshops and conferences, as well as celebrate special days for the benefit of both the direct participants and society,” said the former president.

He said that it is fair to highlight that, for us, talking about Ivelisse Prats Ramírez is inseparable from talking about the much loved and unforgettable doctor José Francisco Peña Gómez.

“Together, both extraordinary companions represent the most solid and noble legacy of political education in the Dominican Republic. Three words serve to summarize this extraordinary legacy: rigor, commitment, wisdom”, she exclaimed.
