The Minister of the Interior, Luis Alberto Heber, meets this Monday with the Police Chief, Mario D’Elía, to analyze the list of violent acts that have taken place in the month of August, especially due to the increase in homicides that has took place this month.
“We have to make a detailed analysis of what each one owes and, above all, coordinate with the prosecutors the possibility of formalizing those who we definitely already have as suspects,” Heber said in statements given to the press.
“Any increase in violence worries us a lot,” added the hierarch.
Ten violent acts in four days
In the last five days, 10 murders have been confirmed in Montevideo, the last being those that occurred last weekend, when a woman died at home while watching television in her living room and was hit by a bullet that came from outside. This event took place in the Marconi neighborhood.
Another event was in a house in the area of Aparicio Saravia and Homero avenues, where a 39-year-old man with gunshot wounds was found dead; he had been killed after an argument with another person.
