The high temperatures registered caused the electricity consumption figures to climb in Uruguay during the last week.
The highest point of energy demand was reached on Tuesday, March 14, when the total daily record reached 43,337 MWh, which implied a historical record.according to data from the National Cargo Office.
On that day the average temperature was 29°, with a minimum of 23.9° and a maximum of 36°.
The previous historical mark had been registered on Tuesday, February 14 of this year, when the demand totaled 42,827 MWh.
demanded power
With reference to demanded power, Tuesday’s peak was 2,213 MW at 2:33 p.m., when the thermometers marked 35.7°.
A priori, the historical consumption peak in summer would not have been exceeded, which was recorded on December 9, 2022 at 3:25 p.m., with 2,242 MW.
In any case, another record published by the Electricity Market Administration (ADME) shows that at 3:20 p.m. yesterday the demand would have reached 2,244 MW. All these values are subject to confirmation.
One of the factors that has driven the demand for electricity during the summer has been air conditioners, the use of which has become widespread in homes and offices in recent years.
