The flooding of a ravine in the town of Tartagal, in San Pablo, Arístides Bastidas de Yaracuy municipality, claimed the life of a 26-year-old young man, identified as Jhonatan José Salazar Quintero, who was dragged by the current on Thursday afternoon. trying to cross the tributary aboard a motorcycle.
The state director of Civil Protection (PC), Leonardo Peñalver, reported that the young man lived in Tartagal, near the point where he tried to cross the ravine.
The tributary overflowed due to the constant rainfall of recent days in the area.
Salazar Quintero, was dragged by the force of the waters, rescued by some neighbors and transferred to the CDI of San Pablo, where he arrived without vital signs.

After the unfortunate event, Peñalver urged citizens to take precautions against the danger posed by the increase in the flow of tributaries due to the constant rains.
He indicated that under no circumstances should they attempt to cross rivers or streams.
He reiterated that the rains keep the rivers and streams of the entity swollen, which generates a risk situation that must be avoided with caution and prudence.
This is the first victim registered in the entity in this rainy season.
Peñalver, made a public call to take care of oneself and respect natural tributaries to avoid unfortunate events.

The official mentioned that the rains that fell on Thursday afternoon generated moderate damage, mainly in the roads of some sectors, such as in the town of Iboa, San Pablo and in El Tupe, Bolívar municipality (Aroa), where the rivers of the area overflowed and walled off agricultural roads, damaging some homes.
He explained that 7 houses resulted in minor flooding in Aroa, with no record of serious damage.
The PC state coordinator stressed that the timely response of the authorities yields optimal results in the state.
He added that the actions are executed from two aspects: preventive measures, which involve the cleaning and channeling of rivers and streams; and reactive or immediate attention to contingencies, such as clearing roads and cleaning flooded homes.
