The International Ballet Festival of Havana returns to Cuban stages on October 20, National Culture Day, four years after its last edition, in which representatives from around twenty countries participated. In 2020 it had to be suspended due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
As announced by its organizers, this 27th edition will run until November 13 and will be the starting point of the celebrations for the company’s 75th anniversary.
Presided over by the prima ballerina and director of the BNC, Viengsay Valdés, the meeting proposes a series of performances of the classic Giselle, with the performance of dancers and guest dancers in the central roles. Also galas with premieres of works created especially for the occasion.
In addition to the main venue at the National Theater of Cuba, there will be activities at cultural institutions in Matanzas, Cienfuegos and Pinar del Río.
With more than 60 years of history, the biannual event has historically featured outstanding figures and companies from around the world.
