The Minister of Economy, Martin Guzmanheld a meeting this Wednesday with the Secretary General of the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD), Mathias Cormanwithin the framework of its participation in the Spring Assembly of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) that takes place in Washington.
After the meeting, the head of the Palacio de Hacienda stated that “combating the tax evasion that our country has suffered for decades, via the use of fiscal lairs to hide funds that have escaped abroad, is an act of strict justice that protects the vast majority that it does comply with tax obligations”.
According to a statement from the economic portfolio, Guzmán assured that “The support of the OECD to identify those who have acted in this way will be essential to be effective in this task“.

The minister stressed the importance of “attack the global distributive crisis that is generating the inflation process aggravated by the war in Ukraine. While some sectors are enjoying windfall rents from war, billions of people around the world are suffering from rising food and energy prices. In Argentina we work to build a solution, and we celebrate that other countries are pointing in the same direction.”
Also present at this meeting were the chief economist of the OECD, Laurence Boone; and the director of the Center for Tax Policy and Administration, Pascal Saint-Amans.
Later, Guzmán met with his counterpart from Spain, Nadia Calvino. Also participating in this meeting were Carlos Cuerpo, Secretary General of the Spanish Treasury; Judith Arnal, Director of the Office of the Vice President; Y Gonzalo Boots, International Advisor. After the meeting, both officials agreed on the importance of “continuing to strengthen the strategic ties between the countries.”
In addition, the minister had a meeting with the Director General of the French Treasury, Emmanuel Moulin and concluded his second day of activities in Washington with a bilateral meeting with the South African Minister of Finance, Enoch Godongwana.
