After the statements of Luis Giampietri during the tribute ceremony for the members of Operation Chavín de Huántar, organized by Congress, where the former vice president accused without evidence William Bermejo of attempted murder against Alan García and his person, the congressman in question spoke to reject the accusations and announced that he will denounce the retired military officer for aggravated defamation.
“Let Mr. Giampietri know that, no matter how old he is, I am going to sue him for aggravated defamation, because what he has just done, for the second time in a week, I am not going to forgive him,” mentioned the legislator of Democratic Peru, after expressing his annoyance at the presence of Giampietri and towards the attitude of the Board of Directors of Congress, since, according to his words: “Although they are listening to the barbarities that he says, they are incapable of defending parliamentary jurisdiction”.

Bermejo expressed his unease and clarified that he was not afraid of “a vice president of an absolutely corrupt government, like Alan García’s,” and then recalled that, above all, Louis Giampietri, there are complaints from the year 2009 for disloyal collusion and illicit association, since it would have benefited certain companies with the purchase of weapons for the Navy.
In addition, he launched various qualifiers towards the vice admiral. “I fall short calling him unhappy, he is a liar, he is a slanderer, he is a scoundrel, And we can’t allow that.”indicated the parliamentarian and invited Giampietri to present evidence on the accusations he has given.
Regarding the document presented by Giampietri, Bermejo stated that the complaint filed against him in 2005 was a “written rubbish” and mentioned that it was a process that had not even reached trial, because it had been rejected by all the courts.
The congressman also brought up the old Business Track case, which arose during the Government of Alan García, and declared that the then president, together with Giampietri, had tried to privatize the security of the Government Palace. “They tried to say that we were a new armed group in its time”he said, when he mentioned having suffered unjustified persecution by García and Giampietri.
