Europa League: Leipzig triumphs shortly after the epilogue and approaches the final

In a RB Arena that seemed resigned to a goalless draw, the Spaniard Angeliño got the only goal of the game in the 85th minute, with a volley after a corner kick that had been cleared by the visitors’ defense.

That goal rewarded the hitherto sterile domain of Domenico Tedesco’s team.

Leipzig, fourth in the Bundesliga, showed very early on that they wanted to take the initiative against a very withdrawn opponent.

It was necessary to wait for the quarter of an hour of the game for that possession to be transformed in the first occasions, mainly through the Frenchman Christopher Nkunku.

At the break, the possession of the Germans was 67%.

In the 53rd minute, Nkunku had another great chance, which goalkeeper Allan McGregor deflected. Eight minutes later, another attempt from the Frenchman went over the crossbar.

Angeliño’s goal in the final stretch relieved Leipzig, who in this tournament did not have to play in the round of 16 due to the automatic disqualification of Spartak Moscow as a measure after the Russian invasion of Ukraine.

In the quarterfinals, Leipzig eliminated the Italian Atalanta.

The second leg of this semi-final will be played on Thursday next week in Glasgow.

The final of the Europa League 2021-2022 will be played on Wednesday, May 18 in Seville (Spain).

The entrance Europa League: Leipzig triumphs shortly after the epilogue and approaches the final was first published in diary TODAY.
