The governor of the state of Táchira, Freddy Bernal, in the framework of the development of the security operation in the border municipality, Pedro María Ureña, reported that the violent actions registered this weekend are reliable proof of the war that the government is currently waging national and regional campaign against Colombian paramilitaries.
Bernal stressed that in the early hours of this Sunday it was verified that after the launch of a fragmentary grenade in a night establishment in the Pedro María Ureña municipality, the security authorities reported that the event left 8 people injured.
“We are at war against the Colombian paramilitaries (…) violence will not return,” he said.
He stressed that the injured are in different health centers in the municipality of Pedro María Ureña and in Norte de Santander. Colombia, meanwhile, the Scientific, Criminal and Criminal Investigations Corps (Cicpc) maintains investigation and deployment days in the attack area to collect evidence that can point to the violent group responsible for this action.
“The Colombian irregular groups called Los Rastrojos, Los Urabeños, La Línea and other violent groups (…) have unleashed a wave of violence in Norte de Santander with attacks, kidnappings, and attacks against the Colombian army and police,” he said.
The president reiterated that based on the structure called the Gulf Cartel, these groups intend to establish violence in Venezuelan territory, hence he alerted them, pointing out that if they continue with these attacks they will get a response through the country’s security forces.
“On the Venezuelan side they will get the counterpart of the attack against the Colombian paramilitaries (…) since we have already recovered peace and tranquility from there, no merchant should pay a penny or silence the intimidation by irregular groups,” he added.
He informed that the news was notified to the President of the Republic, Nicolás Maduro and Vice President Delcy Rodríguez, where the security and care protocols provided for in these cases will be established.
