The federal government, through the National Department of Transport Infrastructure (Dnit), signed this Wednesday (11) the work order for the start of the first stage of the implementation and paving works of 13 kilometers of the so-called Southern Metropolitan Contour of Maringá (PR), which starts on Highway BR-376.
The measure was signed during a visit by President Jair Bolsonaro to the northwestern city of Paraná. The president participated in Expoingá, the agricultural fair in Maringá. He arrived in the early afternoon and took part in a motorcycle ride to the city’s exhibition park. After the event, the president returned to Brasília.
The work on the Southern Metropolitan Contour of Maringá aims to relieve the intense truck traffic in urban areas of the city. In total, the contour will be about 32 kilometers.
The first phase, which will cover 13 km, comprises a stretch that begins at the exit from the city to Paranavaí, ending at Estrada Rural Pinguim, in the vicinity of Parque Cidade Industrial de Maringá. The value of the bid is R$ 253 million.
The company hired for the work was Bandeirantes Comércio e Engenharia, which will have around 990 days to prepare projects and carry out the work.
Inflation
During his speech at Expoingá, Bolsonaro commented on the country’s inflation. According to him, it is a global problem and that prices in Brazil have risen less than in other countries.
“Despite high inflation in Brazil, as well as the fuel issue, in our land the effects are smaller,” he said.
In April, the Broad Consumer Price Index (IPCA), which measures official inflation, closed at 1.06%. According to the Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics (IBGE), which calculates the IPCA, inflation accumulated in 12 months is 12.13%.
To contain inflation, the federal government zero import tax seven categories of food products.
