Government receives the presidency of the SICA group

Santo Domingo.- Yesterday, the Dominican Republic received the Pro Tempore Presidency of the Central American Integration System (SICA), which it will hold for six months, reported the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

With this function, which will become effective as of tomorrow, assumed for the third time since it is a member of SICA, the country embraces the motto “Adapting regional integration to new challenges”, with the aim of strengthening this mechanism and drawing up a agenda that addresses the common problems faced by the States that comprise it.

By participating in the act virtually, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Roberto Álvarez, expressed the commitment of the Dominican State to regional integration.

“The Dominican Republic is committed to drawing strategic lines that will contribute to the economic, social and, above all, institutional strengthening of the region, seeking unity and joint work, since only together will we overcome difficulties. Together, leaving no one behind”, said the Dominican diplomat.

The delivery was made in person by the Foreign Minister of Panama, Erika Mouynes, to the Dominican Deputy Minister for Economic Affairs and International Cooperation Hugo Francisco Rivera.
