Government - ranchers agreement: land purchase will not be made with TES

In the midst of the agreement announced between the National government and the Cattlemen’s Guild, Fedegán, for the purchase of 3 million hectares of land, the Minister of Finance, José Antonio Ocampo, assured that said transaction will not be made with treasury titles (TES).

The agrarian reform must of course be financed, if there is a purchase of land it will have to be financed. The Ministry of Finance is very clear that land cannot be bought with TES, that is not authorized”, Minister Ocampo said in statements made last week.

This week, the Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, Cecilia Lopez, He also told national media that the government is talking about the need to create a fund that is supported in future periods, and that it is still “looking at what it would be like”.

In addition, the Special Assets Society (SAE) is also carrying out a process to lease 125,000 hectares for peasant organizations while the purchase progresses.
