The federal government published this Friday (25) a decree that reduces the rates of the Tax on Industrialized Products (IPI). The measure alleviates the tax burden on the production of automobiles, home appliances of the so-called white line – such as refrigerators, freezers, washing machines and dryers – and other industrialized products. As it is an extrafiscal tax, of a regulatory nature, the presentation of compensation measures is waived, as authorized by the Fiscal Responsibility Law, stressed the government.

To justify the tax waiver, the government highlighted that federal revenue in January 2022 totaled R$ 235.3 billion, a record volume that represents an 18.30% increase compared to the same month last year, after discounting inflation. time course.

In a statement, the National Confederation of Industry (CNI) celebrated the reduction of the IPI by emphasizing that industry is the most taxed sector of the economy in the country.
