The deputy of the Liberal Party, Vlado Mirosevic, affirmed that the Minister Secretary General of the Presidency, Giorgio Jackson, confirmed to all the heads of the ruling party that the Government will not support the proposal of the Commission of Transitory Norms of the Constitutional Convention on imposing a 2/3 quorum to make changes to the next Magna Carta.
“There is good news, Minister Jackson confirms to the official factions that the Government does not agree with the proposal to impose 2/3 on Congress during the first years to make constitutional reforms,” said the parliamentarian after the meeting.
“That is to say, the Government does not share and is not in the original proposal that it made of transitory articles to the Convention and, therefore, it is absolutely confirmed. We do not share it and the Government confirms that it does not share this proposal that it defended with great vehemence Fernando Atria”, he added.
Likewise, Mirosevic valued that “that seems to us to be a good sign, we share the Government’s line”, questioning the position of the conventional Fernando Atria, who stated that placing said condition “is not a trap, it is a way of protecting the Constitution from institutions that They have no reason to be loyal to her.”
