Altogether, the four lots of roads add up to 1.5 thousand kilometers (km) in length, being 432.8 km between Varginha and Furnas, 442.9 km between Lagoa da Prata and Itapecerica, 231.1 km between Arcos and Patos de Mines and 452 km in the region of São João Del Rei.

BNDES forecast is that the notice for the concession of roads for 30 years is published in January, so that the auction takes place by April of next year. According to the bank, BRL 6.6 billion in investments are planned over these 30 years, with BRL 2.7 billion in the first six years.

The notice must provide that concessionaires are required to carry out, within the first 24 months of the concession, investments to improve traffic conditions and safety on the roads under their responsibility. At the end of the first six years of concession, all stretches granted must meet the performance parameters specified in the highway exploration program, according to BNDES.

The concessions will also be debated in a series of public hearings to be held by the State Secretariat for Infrastructure and Mobility (Seinfra), between November 17th and December 1st.

The Minas Gerais concession program foresees a total of 3,000 km of extension in its seven lots, which pass through 120 municipalities. The Minas government’s expectation is that more than R$ 11 billion will be attracted in private investments for the expansion of capacity and recovery of the highways.
