The Ministry of Justice and Public Security (MJSP) set a period of five days for state, municipal and civil society entities to denounce abusive practices in the sale of fuel. The deadline starts to be worth this Friday (3).
Complaints must be sent to the National Consumer Secretariat. “These practices can be translated from the so-called cartel, that is, the standardization of prices in cities or states or regions, or even the great discrepancy that is already verified in some places in our country”, said Minister Flávio Dino, in an interview conference this Thursday (2).
Based on the information received, the possibility of opening a process to investigate the complaint will be analyzed.
“I’ve seen in some states, retail outlets saying that the problem is in the distributors. It does not matter. We will check this later. The important thing now is to check the size of the problem. And there is no doubt that the problem exists. Just walk and check the price difference of up to R$ 1 in the same city. Or, on the other hand, you check the absolutely standardized price”, stated Dino.
For the minister, with the regulatory oscillation, some service providers or companies understand that they can abuse consumers. “Free price fixing does not allow anything, because you have the border of abuse. So, you can have price fixing as long as you don’t violate the Consumer Protection Code”, he added.
This week, the Minister of Finance, Fernando Haddad, informed that gasoline will go up to R$ 0.34 at pumps; and ethanol, BRL 0.02 with the partial reeneration of fuels.
