Until the National Congress in Valparaíso was addressed by the Government spokesperson minister, Camila Vallejoto present a law initiative that seeks to grant the workers of Televisión Nacional de Chile (TVN) “voice and vote” within the signal’s directory.
Specifically, it seeks to modify Law No. 19,132 (regulates the state channel) so that the workers’ representative -who is elected by their peers- obtains the quality of director within the corporate governance of the medium.

The government spokeswoman specified that the norm was requested by the parliamentarians, but that it also goes hand in hand with the Executive’s program that seeks to strengthen and deepen democracy by setting an example from companies to civil society.
“That is why we are making the entry today of a presidential message that not only gives the right to vote to the representative of the workers, but also nominates him as part of the directory,” he added.
Along these lines, Vallejo deepened that these measures are “necessary” and that they go hand in hand with the “experience we have in other companies such as Codelco, Enap or Banco Estado”, adding that “it manages to align TVN and its corporate governance with the advances that other public companies have had in our country”.
Finally, he expressed that he hopes for its rapid processing, since “it is a historical demand from the TVN company and its workers.”
“We trust that this is part of the urgencies and objectives of the Senate. This was requested almost unanimously by the members of the Education Commission and, in addition, it has the support of several senators who are not part of the commission,” hill.
