Government encourages qualified migration to Uruguay

The National Directorate of Education received in recent days about 1,000 applications from foreigners living in Uruguay to revalidate their professional titles. Currently, the process can take about six months and is centralized in that state department where each of the applications submitted is analyzed, the director of Education, Gonzalo Baroni, informed Presidential Communication.

“There are about a thousand people who want to regularize their professional situation to be able to work in our country,” Baroni stressed,

There are many foreigners living in Uruguay who have a university degree and who, in many cases, work in other jobs. In this sense, he urged those who are qualified to carry out the corresponding revalidation process to be able to practice their profession in the country, he stressed.

“This is a State policy,” Baroni specified, explaining that the government encourages qualified migration by promoting revalidations and the recognition of foreign titles.

Currently, the team of the National Directorate of Culture processes each of the requests, which are subsequently assessed by an external evaluator who is in charge of the final verdict. The process can take anywhere from one to six months, he concluded.
